Intro to Drawing

Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

8 classes: $495

Starts May 7th, 2019

Instructor:

Danny Grant

Prerequisites:

None

Class Description:

In this class students will learn to see, identify, and ultimately express various phenomena encountered when drawing from life. Using relatively simple still life set-ups, we'll discuss concepts like form shadows and cast shadows, why they're different, and what causes each. We'll explore how to express things like "value" on a given object in the full context of a still life. Students will learn to use graphite to model simple forms in a clear and effective manner. As is the case when working from life, this class is about learning how to express forms as they are described by the light source and as they interact with their environment. Other topics we'll explore are composition, 2-D vs. 3-D, negative space, comparative measurements, and more.
