Sculpting the Figure

August 28-30, 2026

9:30 AM - 4:30 PM

3 DAYS: $575

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Over the course of three days, students will develop a single sculptural study from life — learning to how to sensitively and accurately interpret the figure from life. The class will focus on capturing gesture, proportion and understanding how the large masses of the body guide a pose.

Kaelin’s approach bridges her classical atelier training with her contemporary figurative practice, drawing on structural and applied artistic anatomy to help students understand the body not just visually but functionally.

Open to all levels. Whether you’re building foundational skills or deepening an existing practice, this workshop offers sustained time with the live model, direct instruction, and the space to develop a real, fluent relationship with clay.

Workshop includes all materials (we will be sculpting in water-based clay) and 1 handmade tool -- Students should feel free to bring different tools to experiment with.
